Scacciadiavoli (from scacciare – to banish, and diavoli – devils) winery was founded in 1884 by Prince Ugo Boncompagni Ludovisi as an advanced oenological complex. After being bought by Amilcare Pambuffetti in 1954, his sons continued the activities and in 2000, his grandchildren decided to take the oldest winery of its kind in the area into their own hands. While preserving the historical structures, extensive renovations were undertaken to introduce modern machinery and technologies.
The winery is situated on a hill and the production takes place by gravity-flow in a vertical building on four levels, one of which is below ground. Despite never stopping production since its inception, the renovations in 2000 marked a renewed passion for Scacciadiavoli.
